All the tearing in the world won’t bring her back.

In a dream at night, Mum dozes, her pains quiet

I quiet in my room.

I’ve no defences for her and her hands don’t fortify me.

The yoghurt and sugar are finished.

The voice hides,

The grave is dug.

I lead myself by my own locks,

With a hollow heart I provide for you,

My pain is changed

By being there.

Won’t you

Love me, my kin.
