A joint article with Rabbanit Dr. Chanah Adler-Lazrovitz was published on Kipa one year after the outbreak of COVID-19. At the start of the pandemic in Israel, we issued a public statement emphasizing a woman’s obligation to check the sanitary conditions of a mikveh before immersing, as required by halakha.

The article examines our collective responsibility in the realm of mikvaot—from immersion safety to the need for proper sanitary oversight. It reflects on the challenges exposed by the pandemic, highlights civic initiatives that emerged, and stresses the importance of cooperation between government authorities, the rabbinate, and the public for the future of mikvaot.
