“The tension between the national and the personal is the driving force behind my writing” – Interview in Gluyat Eynayim (Eyes Wide Open) columnin Gluya Magazine with author Merav Livneh.
Merav Livneh never dreamed of becoming a writer. In fact, her lowest grade in high school was in writing – and only at the age of 35, while living in Ohio, did she put her first words on paper. Since then, her debut novel The Girls has been published to wide resonance, and she has not stopped writing. In this candid interview, Livneh reflects on the moment she realized she had to tell the story of the children of Samaria, how running became an essential tool for her writing, and how the dynamic between the personal and the national continues to fuel her literary work.
